Novemeber Will Be an Exctitng Month in Dawson Creek!

November may be cold, but that’s no reason not enjoy your time in Dawson Creek. Yes, another winter is rolling in, but the coming month boasts a bevy of exciting activities for those who find themselves in our beautiful city.

It all begins with the Mile Zero Challenge, on Saturday the 8th. The challenge is presented by the Dawson Creek Speedskating Club, and goes down at the Dawson Creek Memorial Arena. The event, which is free of charge, and just a stone’s throw from our hotel, is sure to satisfy your need for speed! The action begins at 8:00am, and continues through till 5:00 pm. Come on down for a display of speed like no other.

Later in the month, on Sunday the 16th, be sure to catch indie artist Devon Sproule at the DC Art Gallery. Born in Kingston, Ontario, Sproule’s career has taken her all over the world and earned her ASCAP Foundation’s prestigious Sammy Cahn Award (which has also been won by the likes of John Mayer and Josh Fritter). Now, she brings her folk-infused indie to this fine city. She’ll be supported by local talent Parker Dean on what’s certain to be a great night of music. Doors are at 6:30, and performances begin at 7:00. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Considering the gallery is just a short jaunt from our location, this is not an evening to miss!

Later that week, on the November 21st, you can fill your Friday night with the city’s 23rd Annual Christmas Tree Lightup. The name says it all– as the event’s organizers will illuminate the city with the biggest, tallest Christmas tree they can find. The lightshow will be accompanied by live entertainment, hot food, and hotter drinks. What’s not to like? So bundle up, and help us welcome the most wonderful time of the year– free of charge! Find the festivities at the intersection of 102nd Avenue and 10th Street.

Last but not least, you can close out the month by welcoming a rock n’ roll legend to Dawson Creek. Yes, such high-profile acts as Brad Paisley and The Doobie Brothers may have come and gone, but our city never goes long without major musical event. This time around, our guest is John Fogerty, the former frontman of Creedence Clearwater Revival. The rock icon performs on November 25th, at the city’s famous Encana Events Centre (10 minute’s walk from our hotel). Prices range from $25-$80. To see the man Rolling pegged as number 40 on their list of 100 Best Guitarists Of All Time, that’s a steal.

Yes, this November in Dawson Creek, you won’t have to look far for fun. So why not get cozy in one of our rooms, and explore all the sport, music and Christmas cheer our city has to offer. You won’t regret it!
